Graphic Novel final project for IB LA 12.
The assignment was to create a graphic novel about one event in our lives we found particularly memorable (or could just stand to make a six-page graphic novel about). So long as the story was good, the art didn’t even matter, but I’ve wanted to make something out of this particular event for so long I actually bothered with the art (for most pages).
This happened while I was in Venice, Italy, on a youth group trip with about 44 other teens. My girlfriend of nearly two years had broken up with me literally 10 days before the trip, which, needless to say, ruined the entire experience for me. However, it allowed me to live my life like a romantic comedy for two weeks. Unintentionally, of course.
There are also a couple similar events from this trip I’ll be uploading in the form of 4-panel comics over the next week or two, as well as a little conclusion to the story.
Just have to refine them~

It’d take me a few years to finish all these characters on my own, and I might not even be starting on them for quite a while, so help would be greatly appreciated!

Finished the Robot from Laputa, Castle in the Sky. Since the robots aren’t really given a name, he’s just called Robot. Also he is massive (I made him to scale with the rest of the cast hahahahahahaha) and took like six or seven hours altogether.
Also, Baron Humbert von Jikkingen (from Whisper of the Heart and The Cat Returns) is the last character. If you’ve never seen it, go watch The Cat Returns. It is absolutely amazing. He’s also another dual-rep, like the Soot Sprites. And the most dapper cat ever to exist. Since the movie scaled Haru down while she was in the Kingdom of Cats, I took the liberty of scaling Baron up for this thing.
And I’m trying to figure out a name for the game. Reply with ideas pls? So far “Miyazaki Mash” is the only idea I’ve come up with.
Replacing Catbus with a sort of conglomerated Soot Sprites character. It’ll be a bunch of Soot Sprites put together, attacking in sort of a blob and chucking things like coal at people. I figured it’d be a fun character and they show up in a lot of Ghibli movies.
Catbus will probably still appear somewhere though.
